Getronics Selects Tarmin to Power New Cloud Storage, Big Data-Ready Application Management Service Offerings

International managed services provider chooses to integrate GridBank into its next generation of application data management, cloud-optimized storage offerings

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. and LONDON (June 19, 2012) - PRNewswire - Tarmin Inc., a leading provider of cloud-optimized data management and storage technologies, today announced it has been chosen by international ICT service provider Getronics to power its new intelligent data management and storage services portfolio of offerings.

With data growth already straining a majority of mid- and large-size organizations, and data growth rates in excess of 100 percent per year being recorded in certain segments, the need for a cost-effective, complete solution to manage organizations' unstructured data throughout its lifecycle is growing across industries. The addition of a Tarmin-backed solution means that Getronics is now positioned to help its clients better control growing storage costs while taking advantage of their ever-increasing stores of unstructured data.

The Tarmin GridBank™ integrated solution will initially focus in three key areas of need amongst Getronics customers:

  • Enterprise private cloud as a Service with integrated e-Discovery capabilities in support of proactive litigation preparedness -- Enables organizations to outsource the management of their non-production data to achieve cost savings and realize improved long-term data management with lower risk compared to in-house alternatives.
  • Exchange email archives -- Enables organizations to benefit from a superior functioning Exchange archiving solution for the streamlined management of terabytes of email in a cost-optimized manner. Full enterprise-class email archiving feature set includes identity management, integrated eDiscovery and secure mobile access to archived emails.
  • Big Data analytics with comprehensive metadata management technologies -- Enables organizations to benefit from superior data management capability via an object-oriented framework in support of geographically distributed information stores.

"We pride ourselves on our active working relationships with our customers, ensuring that they have the most transformative solutions available to meet their particular business needs," said Tim Patrick-Smith, Chief Information Officer of Getronics. "Offering Tarmin as part of our next generation of application data management and cloud-optimized storage offerings means that our customers will have more options when it comes to overcoming unprecedented data growth and the inherent costs that are associated with the storing of that data."

"We take our commitment to working with partners around the world to develop integrated solutions that help customers overcome the challenges of managing growing volumes of data in innovative and cost-effective ways very seriously," said Shahbaz Ali, President and CEO of Tarmin. "Teaming with an international service provider like Getronics not only extends the reach of our GridBank software solutions but it also allows us to help them deliver compelling, enterprise-class data management offerings for their innovative cloud, email archiving and big data applications."

The GridBank family of products addresses the key challenges faced by organizations seeking to better manage their existing mixed infrastructures or build their own modern multi-site, petabyte-scale, geographically distributed data repositories. It provides highly available, application aware access to information for users in pursuit of improved business operational efficiencies, strategic new undertakings, proactive responses to increased compliance mandates and analytic insight requirements. GridBank empowers clients to lower costs and take benefit from its rich management capabilities for storing enterprise scale workloads, as well as its information governance framework for controlling risk and its big data analytic functionality for understanding information.
